The Columbus Works approach includes a unique holistic approach to removing barriers to successful and sustained employment. This includes:

Removing Barriers To Success
  • Job readiness training in a classroom setting
  • A holistic support system with components such as:
    • Life Coach
    • Behavioral Healthcare
    • Financial literacy
    • Chaplain Services
    • Legal Assistance
  • Assistance with resources such as daycare, interview clothing, transportation
  • Support and assistance applying for jobs and preparing for interviews

Employer Leadership Readiness
  • A new hire buddy system proven to engage associates and reduce turn-over dramatically
  • Coaching training for front-line managers, so they are prepared to lead a multi-generational, multi-cultural workforce.

On-Going Support
  • Program graduates (Members) receive on-going support and the ability to become involved in career advancement training opportunities
  • Hiring employers receive access to on-going support

​Columbus Works, Inc. is the ​Cincinnati Works Affiliate for the Columbus metropolitan area. Cincinnati Works is an award winning, proven model for impacting poverty by providing members access to training and assistance removing barriers to sustained employment, with tremendous success.

Area employers have the opportunity to hire Columbus Works Member and have found them to be viable and value-added employees.

Job Readiness Training
Hands-on experiential learning in a cohort model, includes job readiness training that covers these modules and more:
  • Realities and expectations in today's workplace
  • Managing your mindset at work
  • Communication at work
  • ​Dependability at work
  • Thinking like an employer
  • Personal financial literacy
  • Making smart decisions

The result is reduced turnover for partner employers, through increased quality of hire, and a true impact on poverty in the community. The application of solid business metrics allow us to show employer partners the effectiveness of the program, including decreased cost of turnover, improved cycle time to hire, and reduced cost for social services as graduates become self-sustaining members of the community.​


Star Employers
There is no charge to become a Star Employer. These special partners enjoy the opportunity to hire Columbus Works Members at no charge, and receive expert support and improved talent acquisition results

Members 
​There is no charge to area residents to become a Columbus Works Members. Members voluntarily complete the job readiness training and participate in on-going holistic support
.
